Full description
Day 1: Djerba – Chenini – Ksar Ghilane
First, enjoy an early morning pickup from your hotel in Djerba or Zarzis. Then, travel south in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. Along the way, cross the historic Roman road and admire the semi-desert landscapes.
Next, stop at the Zarzis salt lake to observe its unique colors. After that, continue to the Berber village of Chenini, where you explore traditional architecture and learn about local culture.
At midday, enjoy a traditional lunch in Guermassa. In the afternoon, drive toward Ksar Ghilane as the scenery gradually changes into golden sand dunes.
Upon arrival, settle into your desert camp. Optionally, enjoy a camel ride or quad bike experience. In the evening, take part in a traditional bread-baking ceremony, followed by dinner. Finally, overnight in a private tent under the stars.
Day 2: Ksar Ghilane – Tamezret – Matmata – Djerba
After breakfast, enjoy free time to relax or walk in the dunes. Then, depart toward Matmata via the Berber village of Tamezret.
Next, visit the famous troglodyte underground houses of Matmata. Meanwhile, explore the region’s lunar-like landscapes.
Later, enjoy lunch in Matmata. In the afternoon, begin the return journey. By late afternoon, arrive back at your hotel in Djerba or Zarzis.
